Siberia -80 Degrees Slim White Dry - Expert Review

When I first started using snus back in the day, the strongest snus you could get was the “Extra Stark” level, which was usually 16-17mg/g or so. This stayed the same for many years, until GN Tobacco launched Oden’s Extreme in 2011. That would raise the ceiling to 22mg/g as the strongest nicotine level on the market. However, GN Tobacco wasn’t satisfied, and felt like they needle to move the needle a little bit further, which would happen in 2015 with the launch of Siberia. Siberia is one of the strongest, and most popular products on the market today, and their “Red” variant is the flagship of the Siberia family, which has now grown to include non-mint products like Siberia Black, which has a tobacco flavor profile. Today we will look at a slim version of the Red variant - Siberia -80 Degrees Slim White Dry.

Product Specifics:

Can Weight: 13 grams
Portion Format: Slim White Dry Portion
Portion Count: 21 portions

Portion Weight: 0.619 grams each
Nicotine (Total mg/g): 43mg/g
Nicotine %: 4.3%
Nicotine (mg/Portion): 26.62mg/portion

When you open a can of Siberia Red, you’ll notice the aroma is a sharp, stinging, burning aroma of mint. It seems to be closer to the spearmint side, but perhaps with a little peppermint mixed in. The portions come in the white dry format, and are slim-fit for a more comfortable fit under the lip. Being a white dry, you’ll find them less moist than the average white portion. At first, under the lip, they may feel more dry, but as they get moist, you’ll find they soften up a good bit, and get more comfortable. While most mint products have a cooling presence, this one has that plus a burning sensation. In the flavor profile, it has a present, focused taste of mint. It’s mostly spearmint with a hint of peppermint. It’s not overly sweet, either. There’s a dark tobacco presence in the background, but it’s not overly bold or anything. In terms of strength, it is strong. I’m not one who usually a lot of really strong stuff so when I use Siberia I feel quite the kick. Using the extra strong level as a benchmark, it feels to be above that, but not too far above that. The flavor, on average, lasts about 1.5 hours, due to the extended lifespan of the white dry format.

Wrap-Up & Recommendation:

Siberia is one of the strongest products on the market today. It is also one of the most popular. Over the years, consumers have been gravitating towards more high-octane snus, which has shown in the staying power of this snus. If you watch social media and anywhere snus users congregate, Siberia Red is one that pops up time and time again as a consumer favorite, and one that people use as their all day, every day snus. Siberia Red also comes in a larger portion, with Siberia Red White Dry, so if you want a more plump portion, you can also try that one.

Snubie’s Opinion:

I have never been one to use really strong products. I tend to stick to the 8-12mg/g range for snus products I use. Siberia has never really been one on my radar or one that I personally use. In terms of GN Tobacco’s mint products, I find more enjoyment with their Cold line than their Siberia line. I get the approach of this one, and why it exists, it’s just not one that has ever really found a way into my rotation. Snus is subjective, and enjoyment is in the mouth of the snusholder, so if it works for you, Siberia-on.
