VOLT Pearls Midnight Mint - Expert Review

It’s been since the summer of 2021 that Swedish Match launched Volt, a new line of nicotine pouches. Recently, they’ve launched something entirely new: Volt Pearls. This format is set to elevate nicotine pouches and take them to a whole new level. In this review, we’ll be covering the blue one, Midnight Mint.

As soon as I got ahold of the cans, I was curious to cut open a pouch. I wanted to see the pearls for myself. And yes, sure enough, they look like pearls. This is what Swedish Match had to say about them: “The Pearls technology means that the contents of the bags have been compressed into small, tiny pearls and then each pearl has been given a coating of aroma.”

When you open the can, a sweet, smooth aroma of peppermint greets you. I don’t really notice much menthol, in the aroma. The pouch is pretty interesting. It is slim, like a normal pouch. It is semi-dry, and not overly moist. The pearls in the pouch have an interesting feel in the lip. They aren’t uncomfortable, just different.

Being a mint product, I do encounter a cooling freshness in the lip. In the flavor profile, it’s a pretty present taste of peppermint. It’s smooth, and sweet in nature. I also notice a little menthol in the mix that I didn’t pick up in the aroma. The nicotine on this one feels to be about the strong level, and has a little extra kick to it. The flavor lasts about 45-50 minutes, on average.

Wrap-Up & Recommendation:

The Volt line is a high quality line of nicotine pouches from Swedish Match. This new format, Pearls, seeks to change the nicotine pouch category by introducing a different way to deliver flavor from the pouch. In regard to this particular one, the mint flavor is refreshing, and present. Mint lovers are going to enjoy this one for it’s smooth, sweet, minty taste.

I gotta give it to Swedish Match, it’s good that they’re still seeking ways to innovate the category, and introduce new ways to deliver flavor. I think people who enjoy nicotine pouches are going to want to try this one, because it’s certainly unique compared to others on the market. There’s been a lot of new ideas in the smokeless world over the years, but this is certainly one of the more intriguing ones. I’m curious to see where Swedish Match goes with it.
