Jakobsson's Melon - Expert Review

Jakobsson’s is a popular brand of snus produced by Gotlandssnus (owned by Swedish Match). The Jakobsson’s brand has high quality Swedish Snus products, but with flavors geared more towards the American flavor profile. That means you’ll find sweeter flavors, with elevated nicotine strengths around the strong level. Jakobsson’s Melon is one that has been around for many years, and has proven to be a fan favorite, especially amongst American snus consumers.

Opening the can you’ll notice this one to have a sweeter aroma that most snus products out there. There is a present aroma of watermelon, along with subtle hints of pear. I don’t pick up much tobacco in the aroma, however. The portions are nice and plump, with a great moisture amount and quick release of flavor. They have a soft portion material, and are quite comfortable against the gum. The flavor, as with the aroma, is a sweeter one. It is considerably sweeter than other snus products on the market. The watermelon flavor is front and center, and you’ll find it accompanied by a light touch of pear. The tobacco taste isn’t too noticeable until you have it in for a while. It peeks out at about 30 minutes or so, but doesn’t overtake the melon flavor. In terms of strength, this one does feel stronger than regular strength. However, at the strong level I find it doesn’t feel too terribly strong. So if you’re like me and enjoy lighter nicotine strengths, you’ll find this one to be comfortable in delivery. The flavor lasts around 45-50 minutes on average for me.

Jakobsson’s is a well regarded line of snus products with sweet flavors geared more towards the American consumer. Their Melon flavor is one of their more popular ones, and has been a snuser favorite for the past several years since it’s launch. If you find yourself gravitating more towards sweeter tastes, or you enjoy a fruity flavor profile, this one may become your next favorite.

I enjoy this snus, and it’s one I use from time to time. Yes, it is a bit too sweet for me to use full time, but it’s something I do get the occasional craving for. I prefer the slim white portion version, but I will order this one here and there. It is a summer favorite for me, and one I always keep in my personal rotation when the weather gets warm!
