Oden’s Double Mint Extreme - Expert Review

When I first started snus back in 2009, the strongest snus you could get was “Extra Stark”, which usually was around 16-17mg/g of nicotine. This was the top mark for high nicotine snus for many years, until a new company called GN Tobacco appeared in Sweden, purchasing the old Snus AB factory and making their own snus brand. They continued Gajane’s old “Oden’s” brand, but with new flavors. When Oden’s Extreme came onto the market, it increased the ceiling for nicotine strength to 22mg/g. That would continue to rise later on down the road to 43mg/g with their Siberia line. Today, we’re checking out one of their Oden’s products: Oden’s Double Mint Extreme White Dry!

When you open the can, you’re greeted by a sharp, fresh mint aroma. It is a combination of peppermint and a hint of menthol. There’s a light sweetness to it, but not too much. The pouches are quite soft to the touch, but a little dryer than the average white portion. When you put one under your lip, you’ll notice a subtle cooling sensation, due to the mint flavor profile. The taste on this one is quite refreshing! I notice more peppermint than anything, but the menthol is no slouch, either. There’s a pretty good mix of both, along with a slight sweetness in the mix.

In the strength category, this one has quite a kick. Or, an “extreme” kick! This one feels to deliver right above the extra strong level. One benefit of the white dry category is flavor longevity. I find this one to last over an hour, and it just keeps on going!

Wrap-Up & Recommendation:

The Oden’s line is an edgy line for people who like their snus fresh, and strong. This one has a great mix of peppermint and menthol to it, and is coupled by an extra strong kick of nicotine. If you’re into high octane snus and fresh flavors, this is one you’ll certainly enjoy. It’s pleasant, well rounded, and has an enjoyable flavor profile.

Snubie’s Opinion:

I know Oden’s Cold is their more popular flavor, but I think Double Mint tastes better. I usually am more of a spearmint guy. However, the mix of peppermint and menthol in this one is a winning combination. While it’s a bit strong for me to use full time, I think people who are into snus with a kick like this are going to be very pleased with it.
