Göteborgs Rapé Fläderbris - Expert Review

The summer is rolling around, which of course always means one thing: releases of limited edition, summer inspired flavors! Swedish Match is throwing their hat in the ring with this special release in the Göteborg's Rapé series: Göteborgs Rapé Fläderbris! This one with the bright, summer taste of elder! This one is said to contain elderberry and not elderflower, but keep in mind: both of these things do come from the same tree, so you will notice some similarities. But, if you’re going into this one expecting a clone of Gotlandssnus Green (for those “old school” folks like myself), you won’t find that here. But, more on that when we get into the review!

Wrap-Up & Recommendation:

Going into this one, I expected one thing, but it turned out to be something else. As a fan of GR Sparkling, I found this one to be inspired by that one, but with a unique twist on that. It has an interesting twist on that flavor profile, and has a very summery vibe to it. It’s bright, flavorful, and enjoyable. Remember, this is a limited edition, so if you like it, make sure and grab a little extra. Once it’s gone, they usually stay gone and don’t come back!

Snubie’s Opinion:

I really, really hoped this one would taste like elderflower. I saw “elder”, and my mind went right to the summertime taste of Gotland’s Green. It wasn’t that, at all. What I did encounter was a snus that tastes like GR Sparkling, but with some citrus and floral notes thrown in the mix. Even though it wasn’t what I expected, I still enjoyed it. At first, I was kind of iffy on it, but after going through a can, I found the taste to mature. While not something I’d use full time, I can see myself grabbing a can or two to use throughout the summertime.
